Cliff Mine

An abandon logging road leads northward from the Blind Stream Road just before it crosses the summit ridge-line to drop down a series of steep switch-backs into Rock Creek Canyon. Trees with treasure symbols carved into their bark mark an old foot trail which continues after that road ends. Where that trail passes below a line of high cliffs, you can see the portal of a square-cut tunnel on one of those cliffs. It is difficult to climb up to, and one can't help but wonder who drove that tunnel into those cliffs so long ago. At the base of the cliffs there is a caved mine shaft, said to be more than one-hundred feet deep. A few years back an old mortar and pestle was found near that shaft.--Faded Footprints, pg. 88
